Philosophy of Teaching Writing

Drawing on more than fifteen years of teaching writing, rhetoric, and related subjects, my philosophy recognizes writing as a complex act of thinking, discovery, communication, and growth. I approach writing as generative, rhetorical, and process-oriented, helping students develop ideas, understand audience and purpose, and strengthen their work through drafting, feedback, revision, and reflection. Ultimately, my teaching seeks to build not only stronger writers but also more confident and independent thinkers who can transfer what they learn to new academic, professional, and personal contexts.
